Morphorm Collaborates with Sandia National Laboratories to Advance Semiconductor Simulations

Morphorm, in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories, is developing high-performance semiconductor device simulation capabilities to address critical challenges in the solar energy industry. These challenges include enhancing cell efficiency, reducing silver usage, and improving metal contact reliability - key factors that influence the performance and cost-effectiveness of photovoltaic (PV) technology. Morphorm’s advanced simulation software will optimize solar cell metal contacts, balancing maximum current collection for efficiency, minimal metal usage for cost reduction, and reduced mechanical stress from excess heat.

The collaboration is supported by the New Mexico TRGR Technology Readiness Initiative, a program designed to assist New Mexico-based companies in accelerating the commercialization of lab-developed technologies. This initiative will help bring Morphorm’s semiconductor simulation module closer to market, benefiting not only the solar energy sector but also broader commercial applications and Department of Energy (DOE) mission-critical initiatives.
